Smudge on La Vuelta
At least they didn't grab him and kiss him on the mouth. Or did they?

Counterpunch is a poltical rag with an agenda. Not real cycling journalism.

Honestly, seeing anyone in the US media writing about bike racing seriously is great. The other non-specialist place I saw this Vuelta written up was the Wall Street Journal, holy contradictions of capitalism! (The WSJ has a staff writer who’s passionate about the sport, and every year they let him write up a few pieces, maybe just to keep him happy.)
The Counterpunch piece is overdone, like the writer really just wanted to vent about Sepp, and had to shoehorn in a bit of Marxist analysis before his editors would allow it.
But still, the more attention on the sport, the better.

Jumbo's come to dominate like Sky did, but IMHO it's much more fun to watch; I think they give their team members much more opportunity to shine.
And hopefully that's going to be even better with the departure of Roglic. I look forward to seeing him and Vingegard going up against each other, Pogacar and Remco too.
All that being said though: that crazy late breakaway in the 2016 Tour was some of the most exciting, and just FUN, bike racing I've ever seen.

And you don't need no stinkin' Marxist analysis to get published at CP.
