Oh No, Hobo

Vintage 1983 PANASONIC Touring Bike - $325 (Hurdle Mills)

"Vintage 1983 PANASONIC PT-5000 Touring Bike / Road Bike
I bought it in 83 New and put a Odometer on it has 688 miles on it.
It was the top of the line at that time.
I has 18 gears. Cannondale bag for rack,
Leather Petal toe inserts Made in France
It been 15-18 years ago that I used it every week.
The brakes and gear cables work well,
Front tire holds air, rear tire leaks overnight, might need a tube.
I changed the the seat to Selle Royal Made in Italy, Much better feel.
and put lights on it that will need to be re-wired.
This PANASONIC Touring Bike is from the golden age of lugged steel bicycles.
Hand assembled in Panasonic's Japanese factory,
the construction quality of the frame and components is top notch.
The frame is good, paint has honest wear and tear and needs cleaning.
Call Pat if you want to see it. 919 883-7368

It looks like it may have Tange 2 or Tange Champion 2 tubing. Double Butted Chromoly.

I doubt it was "top of the line" for Panasonic of the era, but it does look like a good solid bike.

Just needs some tuning. What happened to those bars?

688 miles in 34 years? I should get half that in this weekend.

It must not have too many tours for a touring bike.

Bum-bars and small/small combination aside, I like that bike, it has features that appeal to me. I'm finding more hits about PT-3500 with Tange 1000 and Deore, so this one should be a notch better. Triple and a gigantic freewheel for going up cliffs. Cannondale bag too. I wonder if the generator - Panasonic brand! - still works or could be rebuilt, if the lights could be modernized with LED internals

$7500 "Gold" plated bike on craigslist. Just where I would sell something like that.

1981 Gold Plated Gianni Motta Trade Show Bicycle - $1 (eustis)

1981 new old stock never riden gold plated Gianni Motta road racing bicycle from the Paris/Milan/New York trade show. After the last stop in New York this was sold to Conrad's bicycle shop in New York City. Fully pantographed with a true Campagnolo Super Record group meaning the hub axle's,pedal spindals and bottom bracket are all titanium. This is most likely the best condition gold plated bike in exsistance. $7500

Hmmm,

Another problem with zeros? This time too few?

You'd think they'd at least show photos of the bike parking and bike repair facilities.

"I have an old Echo model bike. Not sure of dimensions but a 6"3 man rode this comfortably. 900-1500 bicycle, asking 500 OBO since it still has a lot of life. If you are into refurbishing quality bikes this is a great deal. Excellent ride if tended to since it has been sitting in the garage for awhile. Test drove it, still rides beautifully but would definitely benefit from a tune up, brake check, tire check, etc. Maybe some tape on rusted steel handles if concerned about aesthetics. Pretty flexible on price, need gone ASAP hopefully before I move on May 1. Thanks for looking!"

Old, rusty bike vs New, funky bikes with same name. You can see the confusion, it's tangible and hangs in the air like the rotten fruit of a neglected citrus tree.

That's how you put a 700c wheel in a 26" frame. Or most of how you do it.

Since I like coors light much better than bud, i would trade my sudsweiser beach cruiser for it, if only this one wasn't so stoopid looking.

A perfect fit. That bike is to mountain bikes what Coors Light is to beer. I don't think I could have configured it any better.

if there were really as many true "Barn Finds" as I see on CL and 'Bay we'd all be starving since farmers would be too busy stockpiling bikes to actually grow crops. The overuse of that and 'Eroica' (usually in association with bikes that are *not* Eroica candidates) have been slowly driving me mad...

I'm just shocked it's a Coors light bike. If it was a Bud Light bike, that would explain a lot.

Yeah, you gotta wonder what's going on with that seatpost when there's no pic of it, but there are two almost identical pics of the aerobar setup and of course this extremely important close-up of the Presta valve on one of the two wheels:

You should see pickup truck owners who take 'pictures' of their trucks to be sold. You'll want to throw your computer out of the window...

/wants a truck /actually, wants a modern El Camino and the good Holden Utes are too new to import
