Do you know of a steel frame with disc tabs,700c wheels and rack eyelets?

Hey, this might be a zombie thread, but the subject material is relevant to a lot of people nowadays. Quite a few of these would be dream bikes for me.

Word to the wise. The new Soma Double Cross disc frame has relocated the rear disc brake mount to the chain stay to eliminate the rack interference issue. They also got rid of the down tube shifter bosses which I don't like, but I think they did it so you could run the rear disc brake cable fully housed back to the brake along the down tube. Sucks for me as I was going to set mine up with down tube shifters. The Soma website does not mention this change yet and actually talks up the fact that you can build it old school with down tube shifters.

Nah, I just bit the bullet and bought some bar-end shifters. Probably better in the long run, just chaps my butt that they didn't let anyone know about the redesign. I sent them a nice email, but their site still touts "down tube shifter bosses for old school builds" for all their road and cross frames.

Brodie Cohort, that's a double butt comoly frame. Check with your LBS, it probably will fit a 700c (29er) disc wheel with 135mm rear.
Fuji World Tour, not sure if it's still in production. That's a Reynold 853 frame with disc.
Most MTB frames are disc ready.
29er = 700c
Some steel 26" MTB frame can accommodate 700c wheels.
Good luck.

Jamis Coda Elite. From the pics, it looks as though there are eyelets, but no mention is made in the write up.

this is pretty much the ideal bike i'm looking for, i've been researching a ton on steel frames and soma seems to meet everything i'm looking for. i've never built a bike before though, how much did that cost to build up?

Van Dessel WTF, which I almost bought for my new commuter build. The only thing stopping me was the worry that it wouldn't take fat tires (+2") and fenders. If that's not a deal breaker, then rejoice, for it's a steel framed, disc compatible, rack friendly (rear disc is mounted on chainstays, to avoid rack conflict) bike with clearance for 700c x 52mm tires. On top of that, it's got an eccentric BB and a split rear triangle, so you can run it fixed, single speed, internally geared, and/or even with a belt drive with no modification; plus two sweet sloping top tubes and a sick neon green paint job.

Too much lol, but seriously I had most of the parts on hand already from previous builds and the wheels are from my 29er mountain bike. Let me do the math when I get home ( I'm 10K feet up in the air right now. Gotta love in flight Wifi). I will say that it most definitely costs more to build a bike from scratch than to buy complete, but you also get exactly what you want with only the compromises you decide to make.

$1500 msrp. I'm sure they can be had for less if you shop around. The Vaya was on my short list too. But I like the DC geometry with less sloping top tube. Plus the Vaya frameset is more $. I think a complete would be the way to go for someone who just wants to buy and ride. I have too much fun speccing parts and building mine from scratch.

Yep they are comparably priced, 'cept I was able to find the Soma frame and fork for $454 shipped. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have the Vaya too. Would have allowed me to use my down tube shifters...

Not sure if this thread is dead or not but I was looking for the same requirements in the a frame.
I ended up with a Steel Wool Tweed. Have been happy so far.
Two minor changes I would make: Option for no Cantilever bosses and for the Disk brake tab to be relocated onto the Chain stay. Much like the Kona Sutra.
