Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My first car was a ‘75 Civic. I also had ‘84 and ‘95 Civics. I drove them all like they were race cars.

My wife’s previous car was a Jetta wagon. Great car. I liked it more than I like her current MB C250.

I just bought an under bb plastic cable guide for the 84 Claud Butler. $4, plus $6.50 shipping. On Amazon they wanted $35, free shipping.

I forced myself to use my road bike by making it into my daily commuter too! sorry no bench, but the fender mounts and wider tire clearance of modern road bikes are a welcome addition (electric shifting too i guess).

At the time. It's interesting to do once or twice, so you know what the average MPG is, but beyond that, what's the pointe?

Ha, the guy said people either loved or hated it. I said I wouldn't put red wheels on my own car but love that it exists.

I loved that civic despite a persistent knock and discs that had to be turned once an year…until LSS climbed a Jersey barrier and turtled it one morning in Boston.

I tried to talk her into a Jetta wagon. Now she’s got a Mazda 3.

Which Civic? Mine was a crappy '97 DX with rear drums, and even so the front discs never needed turning. And I was not gentle.

I did like how my '07 GTI V drove, but not the repairs. Occasionally I ponder getting one as a nicer runabout than the GX, then I remember the repairs and that I'd be wanting a used one, which can't possibly be better.

'81 1500. It had rear drums, but the discs warped continually.
