Racing rims for 16" or 20"?

What are the choices, for high performance "roadie" type rims, in 16" and 20"? Like, suppose you were planning on a full-race Speeding Tikit or Pocket Rocket. Are there carbon fiber 16"s?

Yes, I realize this is on some levels a silly idea. Humour me!

Duh, I found these. 210 g seems pretty light, but maybe not for 16" rims.

Anything else?

Don't know about 16" (305 or 349), but for 20" (406 and 451) see: THORUSA Xklusive Accessories

Call Bike Friday at their 800 number and they will know of anything that is avaiable in small wheels and even build or sell you the parts for them. That is their area of expertise. Roger

Thanks!. Thor's stuff looks cool indeed.

I was visiting Bike Friday yesterday in Eugene. Rode a Tikit. I liked it!

the 349 in 16" and the 451 in 20" are made around using thinner high pressure tires, so the rim BSD is bigger..

I dont see the point of a Rim with a Plastic brake track for braking.

For tubular tires, there is the Vittoria Juniores Tubular Tire (see notes below about wheelchair sizes).

I bumped into this a while ago. They seem to have some Carbon wheels, but it is hard to tell exactly what is offered. Perhaps contact them directly.
M5 Recumbents » Carbon Specials » Carbon wheels

A couple of Chinese companies are producing 20" (451) CF rims.

Also see a few vendors on AliExpress.
451 and 406 Carbon - Shop Cheap 451 and 406 Carbon from China 451 and 406 Carbon Suppliers at FullFun (HONGKONG) Co.,Ltd on Aliexpress.com

It looks like HED has also gotten into the market.

Oh, I've also seen a few small wheels under wheelchair racing sites.

https://ideamobility.com/racing-whee...heel-pair.html
(not sure why the page title says 700c, but the specs say 20")

Oops,

I'm seeing notes that the Wheelchair wheels/tires are 18", and not 20".
Corima Aero 20" (450c) front wheelchair wheel T161000

I recently snagged some 20" tubular rims... which seem small I'm wondering if some of the tubulars such as the Juniores are also sized small. I haven't built up my rims, and don't have the tires.

There seems to be a group of "Mini Velo" racing machines...

I recall when they made BMX racing Tubulars and the rims to go with them .. a smaller tire with a Cyclocross tread on it .

Hed has done high end 369 and 406 rims for decades. Hed was a fan of Moultons.
