For urban riding, it would be more helpful if the Varia had a large rear-facing display that tells drivers "Too Close" or "Too Fast" if they are closer than the 2 second rule.

Otherwise it's just an annoying angry-driver surrogate telling the cyclist to get outa the way.

Daniel4 it has those features
noglider It enhances with range beyond my ears for a mirror check.
Radar is additive , not a replacement for awareness, attention, mirrors and lights in a comprehensive defensive strategy.
Costly but may be very very helpful.
Mine even detects cyclists and speedball ebikes and skaters.
Improves my awareness.

Varia also changes flash rate when it detects a target which may help with driver fixation, not a small issue

Assuming that a radar can tell you if a driver is fixated, which they can't do, what are you going to do about it? Run off the road and crash? Only to find out the driver wasn't fixated!
