Buying used pocket rocket

Much cheaper but one doesn't get pre-fit. How flexible is the pocket rocket in terms of fit? For example, in my road bikes I generally take a size 56. There is a 54 on eBay. How likely is it that I could make it work? Bike Friday of course will prefer I buy new, so I'm not asking them.

Bike Friday will give you fit advice for free...even when you are buying a used bike. I wouldn't hesitate calling them and hearing what they have to say.

If the PR you are looking at has the customized one piece stem/riser combo than the only way to get a longer effective TT is to get another one made by BF. If it uses a riser with a standard bike stem at the top you'll be able to buy a longer stem.

Having said that if you need a 56cm frame I don't see any point buying a 54cm bike. Your fit will be compromised and that's one area I wouldn't save $$$ on.

You'd be better off waiting until another PR with a larger effective TT comes into the used market.

their Jigs for frames is for about the 3 lengths of top tube.. get that number..
on my Pocket Llama 56 TT is the Medium.

unlike Diamond frames seat post is on a mast , not at the top rear corner of a triangle.
so 'frame size' as is understood for DF bike riders, is not the same ...

Seat tube length means nothing really with folding bikes. What is really meaningful is real effective top tube length, so a lot of refine adjustments will usually be done ON the stem length and height. Which makes buying a pre-loved bike from Bike Friday a much better deal and experience. You would only buy a used bike off eBay if you already knew your current BF size and fitting and easily get BF to fabricate the correct stem and bar length. Otherwise, you would probably want to find out how much Bike Friday charges to get the fitting done with an eBay bought bike to offset the seller price.

Fitting on new and used BF bikes bought from BF are complementary.
