Finally starting into a warmer week, yesterday's snow yielded to rain and pretty good melting on road and rail-trail pavement. Headed out midafternoon for a nice 20 miles, slow rolled through some puddles here and there but such a nice break after feeling all but trapped indoors the past six days. Turned into my block at 4:30 still with ample daylight which is a nice improvement, too - nixed an earlier 24 mile idea to not be riding back down a major road at dusk but in retrospect I probably could have been off it while there was still plenty of light.
As it statrs to barely dip below freezing overnight, getting out earlier starts to be more of an option.

Winter
means lesser miles, but there's riding for sure.

40*s and dry is very tolerable.
With sun it is even enjoyable.
Upgraded tights & shoes keep it warmable.
Last two days, and more coming all week.
Lots of days of partial or full sun. The snow has stayed almost exclusively in the mountains.
Seattle, the new northern kalifornia

Winter in general does not curtail my riding here in central Texas, except for those occasional days of miserable weather that blow in. It is my favorite time of year to work on bike projects/builds because the garage is not 140 degrees

ICE. I was a dedicated commuter and rode as much as I possibly could. One of the first few years I rode on my way to work (dark) I came upon a place on the MUP a waterline had broken and poured across the trail. I did not get hurt but I certainly had no control. I quit riding below freezing after that. I am in Indianapolis and, as the snow is melting I was just thinking about gettin my Surly ready to ride. Soon.

In the picture above I'm riding across a frozen bog.
