Well, I do tend to associate with shady organizations (hence the name 😁 ) and I met up with some of Old Ali's henchmen underneath an overpass on the Internet Superhighway and bought me a whole bunch of goodies. For 70 bucks, it was a steal! 😁

🤔 There needs to be a second rotor on the other side for that to work... 🧐

No. That's illegal price gouging. Price gouging, per se, isn't illegal.

That's not contrary to what I said. I didn't stipulate conditions other than customers not having another choice. Supply/demand issues could be one of the conditions. The travel industry (hotels, airlines, etc.), for example, uses supply/demand cycles to their advantage as a regular part of business. This doesn't apply to the previous example because customers have multiple options from multiple suppliers at much better prices.

Paying two cents is not only price gouging, it is one of the biggest wastes of money in cycling. Only poseurs pay two cents -- and in any event paying one cent gives one a better workout.

This is wrong.

The definition doesn't require "not having any other choice". No one is really required to pay the too-high price anyway. You could choose to go without or you might not have the money to pay for it.

You just moved the goalposts.

If you want/need Item X, and there are a limited number of suppliers of Item X, and they all raise their price to take advantage of their position, you don't have another choice. This fits with the definition you posted.

An example...A non-stop plane flight from my local airport to the airport in the town where my kid is going to college varies by 300%+ depending on anticipated demand due to activities related to the school. If my schedule constraints limit my flexibility to select a different day and/or take a cheaper lay-over flight, I don't have a choice but to pay the higher rate.

I accidentally bought some female rim brake pads for my bike once. I installed them, but everytime I gave them a squeeze, they would call the cops on me.

Again, this is wrong. No one has to actually buy at the inflated price for it to be price gouging. If you want it, you can choose not to buy it.

No. It's not a requirement in this definition that there be a "limited supply".

The "demand is high, supply is limited" is a common/usual property but it's not necessary.

The "especially" here indicates there are other reasons (even if they are unusual).
