Snickers Nutrition bars. Anyone try them?
A few months back, someone gave me some of those Snickers Marathon Nutrition bars. These were the crunchy dark chocolate variety. Now, I must say that I am not a big fan of may of the energy bars on the market. Clif had one a few years back, called Chocolate Espresso, but for some odd reason, they pulled it from the market. But these? Damn, they are good! Who ever thought this could come from the Mars Candy company? Only 150 cals per bar.
Not available at "on my Grocer's Shelf", so I just get them from good old Amazon.
What's everyone like, or dislike, for energy / nutrition bars?

Eat what gets you to eat on longer rides. I converted a guy for life to Soy Joy when I gave him one on a century he bonked on. I usually buy Cliff bars, the Black Cherry Almond. Mmmmm....
But I always try to eat a banana with oatmeal for breakfast and take a banana with me on rides.

I take Hammer gels on my rides.

How do keep them from melting on a warm day?

Like RonH, I like Hammer nutrition products. Perpetuem for long rides, and Recoverite for recovery. Throw in the occasional gel pak and Hammer bar, and I'm a happy rider!

I've never been hooked on any one energy bar; but while doing the Michigan Upper Peninsula ride two weeks ago, I was introduced to Larabar. WOW!

Depends on the ride and your own personal choice but if you wan't energy on a ride- eat anything you want. It's just that you have to like it.
My long ride snacks are Fruit cake- Dried fruit-Cereal bars- fig Newtons- and a bit of cheese for protein. I have tried the energy bar and don't like them. Constituency of cardboard and definitley not to my taste. Best out of the lot is a good helping of Porridge before the ride and a top up of Pie during the ride. I like both.

What I buy to carry with me is usually Clif bars and various gels. If I stop at a store during a ride, I'll look for one of the Snickers nutrition bars first, but most anything will do. Grandma's oatmeal-raisin cookies, Snickers bar, Nutrigrain, whatever will go down and provide some calories.

My current supply of energy bar is Quaker high fiber honey oats and a bit of chocolate. Don't really like them very much but they will do. Snickers regular candy bars are one of my favorites. Have not tried the energy bars. Read some where that in a pinch Twinkies fill the bill. Tried a package and have to say they really were quite good and restorative.

There seems to be a lot of really yummy new bars out there. I absolutely hate the standard cliff bar but I love thier high protein body builder bars. I seem to have migrated to that type of bar as well as using plain old beef jerky. They seem to stick with me longer. I use hammer gel for quick energy.
I also use Kashi trail mix bars.

Two standbys are Detour Bars and Clif bars. The only problem with any of the products with chocolate coating is the coating melting and making a mess. So, Detour is better pre-ride.
I've tried several of the bars like Snickers but the ingredient list compared to the price made them some very expensive candy bars.
Hummm...Twinkies...One hasn't lived until you've had Deep Fried Twinkies!

I use the mini Payday bar. It has all that you need and doesn't melt. Sorry, no chocolate.

Twinkies are good and don't have a lot of food products in them to spoil so they will keep a long time.
