Peugeot Urban Express
I just saw one of these while i was out shoping and im wondering if there are any peugeot fans out there who can steer me in the right direction for trying to find one? There seems to be loads of the "mens" version out there but I'm specifically looking for the womens and I cant find them. From looking it over it was made in japan, had 26" mountain bikey wheels and I specifically like the model with the extra gusset tube between the seat post and top tube. Any hints as to model years or other possible ways to search would be lovely thanks

Stick around C&V long enough and you'll discover that it's merely distance and no obstacle to the truly determined.

I owned a 1986 Peugeot City Express. Was from the early City,, Hybrid bike, era. Yours looks like it's got better components, etc. I had a quick release front wheel & nutted real axle. The crankset was a riveted 40 50 tooth. Was the last year for index shifting. The 1987 model had index shifting. I still see a few of the 1980's Peugeots out pounding the pavement here.cheers

I haven't been able to find a sheet of specs or anything but it looked like it had decent low-mid range components. The canti brakes were a plus.
my main attraction is tire clearence and the fact that it looks similar in geometry and concept to a rivendell clem smith jr

It looks like a nice bike. It also looks like it has plenty of clearance for bigger tires and fenders. I would think, based on what Randy, from "MyTenSpeeds" has written that Peugeot may be more common in Canada than the US. You may have to wait to see what becomes available, and then there is the issue of what the seller thinks it is worth.
Trek made a 700 Multitrack with step through frames, however, these were not gusseted like the Peugeot frame is.

Peugoet bikes seem to be everywhere here, you'll see one locked up at almost every rack in Toronto. They are mostly low end road bikes and mixtes though. Thanks for the tip about the trek, not a substitute but if I give up on trying to find the peugoet it would be another good option for a step through mountain bike.
