Cyclist shot in BC

Riding in the middle of the night on a highway on a weekend, I would expect to get run over but not shot...

That is just nuts! Yeah, the last worry especially here in BC is a drive by shooting. At 1am the concern would be getting hit by a drunk driver or something, but not a bullet!

Just saw this on both Global BC and CTV. Had a look on Google maps and believe that the cyclist was shot immediately after crossing the bridge over the Thompson river (will have to watch the news again, to be sure). Outside of someone from the 1st nations (Indian Reserve) or some redneck "practicing on a moving target" I can't imagine why anyone would shoot a cyclist in this area as it is a fairly bike friendly route.

I'm guessing alcohol and boredom were contributing factors.

I also read those and some further linked pages. It seems quite a few accidents happened when a truck was making right turn. Beware.

That town only has about 12 people, so hopefully they'll catch the moron quickly.
