Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling Torrents

Guys, Im in South East Asia and unfortunately none of the cable carriers are doing any cycling coverage of things like the TOC, Giro, Dauphine, The Tour or the Vuelta.

Previously I got all of this off Demonoid in Torrents from kind souls that would record and then post them however Demonoid is now closed so that avenue doesnt exist.

I asked Cycling.tv whether I could subscribe and get coverage of these races in SEA and they said no and that they use IP filters to determine where someone is as thier licensing issues only relate to the US and Europe and dont extend to SEA.

Can someone either suggest where I download torrents of these races or how I can circumvent the cycling.tv issues.

I am someone that does not have any issues behind paying for such services, however when I cant pay, I unfortunately have to resort to torrents.

PM me if you have some alternatives and want to remain anon, or for the benefit of everyone if you have a source and want to share, pls post.

Regards

A

Mininova and The Pirate Bay usually have torrents for BBC coverage of the TdF. Nothing like the live coverage on Versus but it's a good hour or two of coverage and you see the important parts commercial free. Just search either of those sites when July comes around.

Last year there were great torrents during the TdF that could be found on scrapetorrent or demonoid (RIP). Essentially, within 2 hours of the end of the day's stage someone would seed the full ITV (UK) broadcast of the stage. About 6 hours later, someone would seed the ITV's "highlights" of the stage which was a 2 hour show, cutting out parts of the race that weren't too exciting, showing all of the last ±80km, with in-depth race commentary, race review, tech sections, all kinds of goodness. Great stuff.

I also think the ITV coverage was SOOOOO much better than the Versus stuff, but that's just my opinion.

Since demonoid went down , I haven't seen too many places where someone could find torrents on the sprig classics, the Dauphine, Giro, and others... but keep searching, something will show up. Hopefully.

try:
scrapetorrent (.com)
thepiratebay (.org)
mininova (.com)

FYI - the search results on scrapetorrent may mean you'll need an account at the specific trackers, but you may find good results. For example, I just looked and found Milano-San Remo, Kuurne-Brussel. Good signs.

I did a google search a couple week ago and got torrents for a couple of cycling flicks. I wasnt looking for anything in particular, but took what i found. They're not races though.

I Got

La Course En Tete - The Eddy Merckx Story
Hell on Wheels
Overcomming
A Sunday In Hell

All very good.

prendrefeu... exactly... whoever it was on Demonoid was doing all those in SEA a service that cant be repaid in any way... but unfortunately its now RIP. I have tried all of the above and more than anything I was so disappointed that I didnt see any of the TOC and i will literally cry if I dont see P-Roubaix.

Have tried piratebay and mininova and pretty much have downloaded all the other torrents available at the moment....

If anyone reading this that can help for P-R please let me know.....

thanks

I have a feeling it [Paris-Roubaix] will show up. ToC probably not, as that has already passed. The current torrents from this season, including the Milan-SanRemo, are broadcasts from NOS (Netherlands). Looks like there will be a high chance of seeing a majority of the classics and non-grand Tours coming from NOS broadcasts.

When the GIRO, TdF and Vuelta come around you may end up seeing some broadcasts from ITV and English-speaking broadcasts, more likely. Possibly even with Paris-Roubaix, as that is a very popular one-day classic.

Patience.

That, dear friend, is the most useful link of the year thus far on these forums (to me). Seriously.

you could use the Tor proxy to "trick" cycling.tv that you're coming from the US or Europe - just pick the right proxy..

I have been using the VLC media player for about 3 years. It converts many more codecs than some of the other players and I have never had a problem with playback.

The commentary in the torrent is not in English but it is still worth watching as it really is one of the best races on the calendar

Here's one of the sites I use: https://www.torrentscan.com/

It allows you to manually search 11 different torrent search engines including isohunt and mininova.
