RARE Fat City Cycles Slim Chance Road Bike 56/57cm - $1,350

*Bike is located in Georgetown, TX, but it will be worth the drive if you've been after one of these!

I am very pleased to offer this 1992 Slim Chance built with Campy Record 8 speed. This bike is virtually all Record, but it does have a Litespeed Ti spindle BB. 3TTT bars (42cm) and stem (80mm). American Classic 26.6 seatpost (this is a full length mtb seatpost). 172.5 crank with 39/53T rings. Cassette 12-23T.

Wheels are Campy Lambda Strada 700c tubulars on Record hubs. Brand new Conti Giro 22mm and I have an extra new in the box Conti to go along with it. Just wrapped the bars with Cinelli gel cork. Brand new Flite Ti saddle, too!

I got this bike from the original owner, a gentleman in his 80's who has aged out of cycling. He bought this bike from Chris Chance and specifically asked to have no downtube decals. Chris resisted this, but eventually gave in and painted it this way. Instead of a steel fork, the owner sent Chris the Kestrel EMS carbon fork to paint match with the frame, so this never had a steel fork.

The frame, as told by the seller, was built with Columbus TSX which was a spiral butted (rifled) tubeset. Top tube measures 57cm c-c. Seat tube is 56cm c-c and 59cm c-t. Standover is 32.25". I'm 6'1" and could make this work with a little higher/longer stem, but I would put the ideal rider height for this around 5'10" to 6'0", but you could probably work with it if you are close either direction to that range.

Overall, this is in nice shape. The bike sat for a very long time in a storage unit, plus is 30+ years old, so there are signs of wear and tear plus scuffs and scratches. Some larger scratches have been touched up on the non-drive chainstay and under the downtube as pictured. I could not find any dings or dents.

Don't let this rare opportunity pass you by to own a Slim Chance! It's incredibly beautiful and classy bike. Road race bikes just don't fit my riding needs and I already have a stack of unused bikes hanging on the wall, or else I'd hold onto it.

I very much want to sell this locally, but I will ship at buyer's expense. I've packaged dozens of bikes, so rest assured I know how to do it properly.

I accept cash, Venmo, and Paypal. Buyers can opt to add the 3% fee if you want the buyer protection, otherwise can safe the fee by not selecting "for purchases" on Venmo or paying "Friends and Family" on Paypal.

1981 Peugeot PXN10 Super Competition 59cm - $700

Rare high end model with all Reynolds 531 frame and fork. I’ve owned it 13 years. Rides, shifts, and brakes perfectly. I’m about 5-10 and ride it as it is in the pics, could certainly fit a taller rider.
*Simplex/Spidel brakes, rear derailleur, friction shifters
*Stronglight 106 crank 42/52t. 7 gear cassette
*32mm Compass(Rene Herse) tires…best clinchers available
*Upgraded Mavic Open Pro rims and Ultegra hubs
*Sakae randoneur handlebars
*MKS touring pedals
*Weighs about 21 lbs.
*Small area of superficial rust on ride side of top tube shown in last photo. Could be touched up…I forget it’s even there.

A trip down memory lane for me...but I get lost on that lane, these days!
This was the first "serious" new bike I bought from a dealer BITD and same color scheme but perhaps a year or 2 later than '72.

Pretty much same details (Silk fork and chrome lugs, mainly same components with a lousy quilt-top saddle) but the OEM wheels on mine were some model Ukai tubular with "plastic filled" rims and that was what killed the love-affair for me!
Couldn't ride more than a week without hitting "puncture vine" (AKA goathead or devilhead thorns) and then trying to master tubular tire repairs as a newbie?...not gonna happen!

IIRC these were fairly light frames, pretty well finished and some flavor of Cro-moly tubing I suspect was the forerunner of Tange Champion No.1, plus priced very competitively,
This New Brand (Nishiki, ne American Eagle) was after market share in the Bike Boom!

I traded mine back to the shop for a "Semi-Pro" in rootbeer brown that fit me better and had clinchers, but was not in the same league as these "Pros".

High end bikes with high end prices.
This part made me laugh:
"Aside from the new tape and a wipe down, I’ve done nothing to this bike…The tubular tires don’t hold hair and I’d seek new brake blocks before riding. No idea when it was last serviced, but if you’re anything like me, everything coming in to the garage would get a clean and repack/lube/adjust…"

62cm, maybe a 60cm, but I really don't need any more bikes. I got a 24" Trek 620 F&F from steine13 more than a year ago that I haven't touched yet. Might get the chance now that the big kitchen remodel is done but I'm not riding the bikes I already have and would be foolish to get another. Thanks for being on the lookout.

Bianchi Grizzly Bike - $150 (encinitas)
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/...677362078.html

Thoughts on value? I am thinking of checking it out. Would have to be a flip...it's gigantic. I think it's a 1984 and looks to be original, though no DS pics.

Better deal as a keeper than flip. Depends on what value you put on your wrenching time? Frame looks good. Looks like it might need tires. Does need cables, re-grease, etc. Rust will take some time and elbow grease, headset looks like chrome might be gone in spots, bars might end up with some pitting. Hard to say what it would bring cleaned up in this current bike market, will need a tall buyer.
