Bridgestone RB-2

Hi, I'm curious as the the value of this 1992 (I believe) RB-2. Looks to be in good condition... maybe needs new tires though.

It has some rust and the stem is wrong but it's a decent bike at $100. Bridgestones are nicely designed, solid bikes and typically command a premium price so you did fine on this.

That C note probably wasn't a bad decision if it makes you happy. You have some work to do, but it looks like a good bike. The stem though would have to go if it were me. But if it feels good to you and fits, keep it.

You didn't need help, just enabling, and you went ahead and enabled yourself. Nice work, $100 well spent.

I just looked at my 1992 Bridgestone catalog (yes, I still have ones from 1992, 1993 1and 1994 - lots of fun info in them) and can confirm that this one is almost certainly a 1992 model. According to the catalog, only 1,500 RB-2s were made, so they don't exactly grow on trees.

I had an RB-1 from the same year and it rode very nicely. The RB-2 has the same geometry with slightly heavier tubing (still Ishiwata of some sort, although not 019 or 022 as on the RB-1). so I would expect that yours will clean up into a very nice riding bike. I'd say you done good for $100.

Yah, I get it about the stem but it feels good to me. I've mentioned before that the drops w regular stems are v uncomfortable for me. Now I can pretend I'm a real road bike rider lol.

Thanks for the info. I'll tell you, it's a really nice ride. I thought it might be too big (56 cm) but it is the 53 cm which is good for me. Also the 53 came with 170 cranks vs 175 on the 56cm. My other concern was the steep gearing from the factory (11-23, with 53/40 up front) but the cassette as been changed to a wider range (at least 28). I still find myself in gears 2-5 and on the small ring up front most of the time.

I look around all day long for these bikes. Equipped with 7 speed cogs. It's spaced at 126 or 130mm. You can build this up with modern components. I wouldn't hesitate to pay $100 for this. Might be convinced to give $150. But, I'd balk around $200.
