Broken Chain Hanger
Chain hanger broke off this old Specialized Expedition. Clearly not an integral part of the frame, but a little disappointing to see. I just wanted to check and make sure these were brazed on and not threaded in. How are these attached?

Pretty sure these were a one-piece braze-on. I used to sell Expeditions and Sequoia’s back in the 80’s. My wife had an Expedition in the late 80’s. Great bikes.
i used to see a couple of bikes a year in the shop show up with snapped off chain hangers, folks would put the chain on the hanger, remove the wheel, fix a flat, reinstall the wheel, forgetting to flip the chain off the hanger and try to pedal away and *snap!

Or it could be intrusive thoughts got the better of someone and they just pedaled with the chain on there on purpose.
