Any owner of Thule hitch rack Doubletrack XT?
I just ordered a Thule hitch rack called Doubletrack Pro XT. It came with something like 30 pieces, to be assembled. After watch a couple of YouTube videos, I put it together… well almost.
When it come time to slide the wheel trays onto the horizontal bar, they were so, so, so tight! They wouldn’t slide freely on the bar. None of them!
I called Thule. They suggest I put some Windex on as lubricant! Well, it didn’t help. It still wouldn’t move freely. I can only move them by banging it with a hammer!!!
So trying to adjust the tray position to fit my bike’s wheels became a monumental task! More over, I worry once they’re on, the Windex dried off, I would never be able to move them if I buy a new bike.
Anyone else had the same rack? Did yours go on without hassle, and can move easily and freely to adjust to different kinds of bikes? Or, if they were tight getting on first time, do they loosen up with use and gets easier to move later on?
I watched a couple of YouTube videos on the assembly. But none of them mentioned the wheel tray being so tight. Could it be I got a bad unit? The the bar where the trays are suppose to get on were a tad too large?

I have assembled quite a few in the past and yes, they are tight, and for good reason I reckon. Lube them with something slippery and they will go on.

Does the fitting loosen up a bit with use?
(I ride with a group, sometimes on linear trails needing shuttle. So there’re occasionally situation will need to haul bikes with drastically different wheel base. Needing to re-adjust the location of the wheel tray on the trailhead)
