Bicycle Advocacy Organizations
I did a search and did not see any listings of bike advocacy organizations. So I thought that I'd start one. This thread is list and discuss local and national bike advocacy organizations and any events that they may host.
I'll go first. My partner and I have done a couple of rides with Transportation Alternatives in New York City, where they've been advocating for better bike infrastructure in the city since the 1970s. It's interesting to hear how they work with (and often battle with) the city to get bike lanes built and they represent cyclists' interests whenever infrastructure projects are discussed. Seems like a good group.

Well nationally, there is People For Bikes. They like to ask me for money, but I suppose and hope they are doing some good.
And in my state there is Bike Walk Mississippi .You might notice I got my avatar from there.
My City organizes at least two rides a year along with other events and activities for many different types of sports. The longtime mayor has been a avid cyclist for many years and along with other community leaders has made this a fairly decent place for cycling IMO. We have the 11 mile Chisha Foka Multi Use Trail, though running through the Natchez Trace Parkway, which is Federal, would probably have not existed if it wasn't for the Mayor and other city officials that pushed for it and provided for construction, maintenance and care for most of it's length if not all of it.

I think for a national discussion like this, one of the best references is https://www.pedbikeinfo.org/newsroom/newsletters.cfm. It provides a very good national and international information stream. Visiting the site and deciding if there is other stuff may also be a good use of your time https://www.pedbikeinfo.org/

two to look at
How about one that has been in existence since 1880. Originally named League of American Wheelmen and more recently as the League of American Bicyclists. It has to be the oldest advocacy group. I used to be a member when it had the first name but fell by the wayside a long time ago. The other one which I am a member of is Rails to Trails which mostly advocates for turning abandoned rail lines into multi-use paths. It has also been around for decades and has a good record for building new trails.
https://bikeleague.org/ It is on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and YouTube.

Dutch VVN are effective. One of the things they do is go into schools and give children a theoretical and practical traffic safety examination. The benefit of this is not only are Dutch children safer cyclists it also establishes a commonality of how to behave in traffic. Behaviour that carries over into how people drive their cars.
