Hi from Japan
Hi, my name is John. I’m a Canadian and a 32 year resident of Kyoto Japan. My main interest is touring and I’ve done some multi thousand kilometer tours in South America, Canada and the Caribbean. Nice to be a member. Thanks

Hi John. Sounds like you have some great memories. This is my first post. Maybe I'll find a place in the forum where you share some of them. I have a funny memory of biking in Kyoto. My wife & I rented bikes in west Kyoto, Arashiyama. We rode throughout the area and loved it. Toward the end when getting tired I made the mistake of putting 14 kilos of backpack in the front basket for the first time. In slow motion I lost control of the front and veered like a midday drunk into someone's nice bush along the bike path. I felt horrible. An old Japanese lady came out, smiled, and started shooing me away with her broom. We both laughed but I still feel bad about that. They have meticulous landscaping in that area. I've never felt so slow motion helpless.
