I've got a 1990 RM Fusion in terrible condition that I plan on building up over this winter, likely as a drop-bar adventure bike I can pass onto my son. I have a PDF of the 1990 RM catalogue. It's interesting to see all the various models above the Fusion and Hammer.

Quote from the catalogue; "Hammer flat out, pound up the hills, scream back down. Challenge all rivals on the HAMMER. The basic choice of a rider who wants to compete in the toughest conditions."

Updated pic of my '89 Apex. It's more road than trail. I absolutely love this bike and wouldn't trade it for any other mtb, vintage or modern.

When you're sitting at the stoplight and notice a paint scheme like this chained up at the pawn shop, you put on your turn signal.
This one ticks all the boxes, Backfire paint scheme, Mission Control2 cockpit, XT drivetrain. Chehalis-made in January of 96. Only thing it needs is a headset adjustment and some better tires. Too bad it's too small for me.

I've always loved the paint schemes on these early Rockies, but having said that, I'm also doing an '88 Hammer in plain silver, since the original paint was a crazy combo of orange and pink fade that I could never reproduce properly. Regarding the spurious moniker, the decals are completely wrong for this era of bike, but I don't have the budget to reproduce the decals in the original style.

I'm afraid I succumbed to the modern reflex that doubts first, and questions later. Apologies...

This was my old Mongoose Maneuver. Not sure what year. But I guess from the 90s. Since I more or less now ride recumbents only I sold it. The 26" wheels looked tiny on that huge 24" frame.

A few years ago, I picked up (2nd hand cheap) one of the 250 Stumpjumper Classics that Specialized ran in 2006 for the 25th anniversary of the original Stumper mothership. I guess this reissue of the classic may be considered by some to be ”vintage” itself. Original Tange frame remake and special limited run of original gumwall Ground Control tires from the original molds. Very nice modern (2006) components, although the non-traditional crank was not fully appreciated. Original cost was around $1,200 (pretty steep for a remake of an '80s rigid steel bike.) Many were just stripped of components but it's a fun ride and I'm just going to keep it as is for whenever I need to escape 2020 and go back to the 1980s without needing a flux capacitor.

Got this on the cheap. All it took was a little degreaser in the hub to loosen up the pawls and she’s back for the trail. Colorway reminds me of old Yamaha motorbike.

I worked at a DB dealer in the 80s and 90s. I sold my share of these. The smoke paint job was always a conversation point. How much smoke? How much pearl?

Rock-On!
Garbage picked a HardRock-
6 spd Suntour;
mismatched brakes;
bolt on rear wheel.
I swapped seat & post.
tweaked the front brake and made a minor shift adjustment. Tires are new- still had the sprues on the tires.
cleaned off some kind of..... goo all over the bike. Rides like the nearly same RockHopper I have.
