Looks like brass fittings and the Valentino style barrels in anodized gold? I was honestly surprised I won the bid...

Must be some steampunk creation. A second wild guess would have been in connection with the original 40s-50s Wilier ramato / ramata but the color doesnt match. Anyhow an interesting ouece for sure. Like ICS from another age.

I don’t know about that, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

They are nice enough to allow me to continue to hang around though...

Two left shifters... or did they manage to put the right one on backwards?

Okay, I thing I get it... on the PC in one of my browsers the pic (only in thread which is strange) doesn't show up..... on mobile and the other PC browser it does.... ¯\0/¯ this caused my initial question.
And funny, that I was so much blown away by the brass, that I didn't even notice the two left shifters

When would brass fittings have been used, I wonder. It will be interesting to take a closer look once they arrive. I thought they'd make a cool display item.

The right shifter is on backwards, look how much it’s angled in, compared to the left one.

To make them more pliable than steel sheet. Very possible. They are just an odd little item that I have never seen before.

interesting indents from the cable on the left hand shift lever.

It was just reversed. And you guys are right, they are incompatible with the intact band...

Still wondering about the brass or just rust...

Where the clamp is broken is copper color or? Sometimes copper is put on steel before the plating is applied, any shinny stuff (steel) the cooper is a top cote....in any event that's a nice find.

there are home-brew plating AND anodizing kits (Caswell is the well-known name), some folks here have even used both, and I would not be surprised if this explains the "mystery metal".
