That's a bit of a shame, the paint looks original and in good condition. But it will look great in orange too and not a colour I see often on Motobecane out there in the wild. I was always planning to have 3 French bicycles: one blue, one white and one red. The idea was Motobecane, Peugeot and Gitane, it's going to be 2 Moto and one B Carre. I seem to always end up with blue ones (and got another blue frame on its way now). So I will be definitely repainting 2 of them (one in red metallic, one in silver metallic or white pearl) One of them requires some minor work by a framebuilder (which will mess up the paint, not in a great condition anyway) and the other one has flaking chrome which has to be blasted and painted over, so might as well do the whole frame.

Enjoy working on it and make sure to show it off when you finish

My newly ‘renovated’ ’72 PX-10 650b. I’d been riding a too-small 58cm (pretty sure I posted it in this thread previously) and finally found a 62cm last summer for a better fit. Cleaned up, touched up over the winter and moved the parts over. Giving a 175mm Stronglight 93 crankset a try (I’ve got long legs, but we’ll see if I have any ground-clearance issues, what with the 650b conversion). I’m also giving a short-cage SLJ RD a try, just for the heck of it. It’s definitely a bit ‘quicker’ shifting than the SLJ GT I was using previously, and I’ll need to make sure I don’t inadvertently shift into the big-big combo. The handling of the 62cm feels a little squirrelly compared to how I remember the 58cm, but I’ve been mostly riding my Trek 400t since last fall, so it may just be that I’ve become accustomed to how that ride feels.

Your brilliant blue PX-10 looks like fun. Nice job on the bike stand too.
It's been an amazing week for Motobecane pictures this week.

Those narrow-width pedals should save you from any problems on cornering. Beautiful bike.

I’ve (mostly..) aged out of aggressive, pedal-through cornering, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be OK. Generally not a Shimano lover, but these are my favorite clipless pedals- work well, look decent on a vintage bike, and can usually be found pretty cheap!

The px10 looks awesome. I have really gotten into the 650b stuff lately. So comfy for an old man, like you I rarely pedal through corners.

Your bike looks like it would be just the ticket for a long ride through the country when you just want to enjoy the scenery.

I need to make a couple stands like that. Today, I was building some props for the local community theater, so as long as I have the miter saw set up, I could knock them out in short order. I have a big box of scrap lumber from deconstructed sets to work with.

The problem with a stand like this is that it has to be built with the spacing for a specific tire width so it wedges in just right. Too loose and it's not stable, too tight and, well, the wheel doesn't go in! But they're cheap and easy enough to throw together I've made a few to accommodate the tire widths I'm currently running on my bikes.

Motobecane Grand Record. Bought it new in 1975. Rode it for about 18 years with one servicing (as I recall). Sat in basement gathering dust for about 30 years. Finally disassembled everything, cleaned, re-greased, replaced/upgraded several components (thank you ebay!). Got some nice silk sew-ups on it and it rides like butter! Some final assembly to still take place - bar tape, pedal toe clips/straps.

Quite Lovely., looks to be almost as good as my pristine, all original '75 Silver/Black GR. I also have a '75 Black/Red Gr that is almost as nice as yours that is a great rider. Those were wonderful bikes.

Yeah, my bike is definitely not pristine with chipped paint and some rust, but otherwise I believe it is in fine working condition. And I’m definitely enjoying riding it after bringing it back to life!
