Campagnolo recto chainring?
so I just got one of the older 151bcd campagnolo recto Chainrings. It's one of the thicker (7mm thick) pista chainrings. does anyone know anything about them? I only know that the are called a recto from this site https://www.bikecult.com/works/chainring.html. any help would be cool

What do you need to know? They stopped making about 1970 or so. Shimano and Sugino also made cranks that used the 151mm BCD at that time.

Yeah, I have a 50T one. It fits a 151 bcd early 1970s Campy Pista crank arm. The word "recto" in Italian means "right side", so maybe they just mean you are looking at the right side crank arm.

just was wondering if there was any problems with them or not? just a general history behind them? or why they would make a chainring thicker? sorry for being interested in why companies do things and the history of bike parts and such

First off, the chainring is not 7mm thick, it is only about 3.6mm thick, same as Sugino and Shimano at that time. The Campy chainring has a shoulder on the inside, which is lacking in the other brands to further stiffen and stengthen the chainring just below the teeth. You will find this type of shoulder to a lesser extent in some high end modern chainrings such as the Sugino 75. Modern chainrings use a smaller 144 bcd, so they are thicker, more like 4.0mm.

extra bitter
If you're going to be such a d-bag, you could at least spend half a second to note that the "recto" image has a matching "verso" on the bike cult site; recto refers to the (right/outboard) side being photographed. Google would have gotten you the rest of the way.
Then again, maybe you're just trolling.
