Raleigh Sports (Canadian)
This 1972 Raleigh Sports has a 23" frame (my size!) and the beautiful brown colour I refer to as "root beer". I purchased it at the 2018 Canadian Vintage Bicycle Show near the end of the show and picked it up for a reasonable $110. Over the winter of 2018/2019 it got a complete rebuild and some of the dents hammered out. I rode it a bit in 2019 with a Brooks B67 and larger saddle bag. In 2020 my neighbour was itching to do some riding and convinced me to sell it (sans the Brooks and bag of course). I thought it might be too large a size for him but he said it was fine. This summer he admitted it was too big and he had not ridden it since he got it
Ready to roll once again.
Changed the pedals. It had the curved block pedals with the plastic bearings.
This is the bag and saddle that came on it.
As ridden in 2019.
As purchased in June 2018.
. I had a smaller Raleigh 26" ATB just finished so I gave him that and a little cash and retrieved the Sports from the back of a dusty damp garden shed. It's now back home and cleaned up for my use again. I really love the colour and will likely keep it.
It is tricky to capture the colour on film but I have tried my best with this last round of photographs. The lamp bracket was added (simply because I had one) and the pedals were changed to something a little more sturdy. Grips have been changed a couple of times.

That is one of the best looking Sports I've seen in sometime. $110 was a steal.

The coffee 1972 Raleigh Sports has had a couple of minor changes and remains with the current fleet. The honey B67 has found its way back and the grips are a nice light brown. The heron by our front door seems appropriate.
