If you are worried about it, just use the injinji socks with your cycling shoes..

No, if anything, your gait will change, not the width of your foot. I wear VFF and have no problem with my cycling shoes.

I wear the heck out of my VFF's when I'm not at work. I was just fantasizing the other day about carbon soles and cleats on a pair of VFF's, which would solve any foot shape problems
This is what I do. The socks aren't inexpensive but they're super comfortable and for some reason they seem to help alleviate my hotfoot issues.
If you are worried about it, just use the injinji socks with your cycling shoes..

Flyin' under the radar
I run in my VFF's every other day, and ride my bike every other day -- no issues switching between the two. VFF's will help your feet/calves gain strength; they will not necessarily re-shape your feet to the point of requiring new shoes. That said, after adjusting to running in my VFF's, I elected to remove the supportive padded insert from my cycling shoes . . . I found it to be more comfortable, and more stable, without the insert.
