That's alot of money USPS gave the team. Think the Feds want it back if they can prove fraud/doping????https://sports.espn.go.com/oly/cyclin...ory?id=6019436

An article in today's San Francisco Chronicle says that during the years 2001-04, USPS spent $32 million promoting Armstrong's teams and received $103.6 million in domestic value.

If there was systemic doping, USPS benefited as much as anyone from the fraud No one would have cared about Team USPS and Lance if he wasn't winning. It's not like sponsors didn't know that professional sports were mired in doping and it's not like they didn't benefit. You think Enron really cared that Bonds was doping? No. They were all too happy to benefit from the exposure. Of course, when the obvious comes out they do try and distance themselves and pretend they didn't know. Which might be true. They may not have KNOWN that Bonds was doping, but they sponsored the SF Giants knowing that many ball players did and benefited from it.
The only fraud is against the fans and the sport. There certainly wasn't any fraud against the sponsors who are themselves complicit.

The Tour Down under was Lance's finale.. After that performance, really won't matter much anymore.

So.... we split off my original post, which WAS completely on-topic and a valid observation, and put it in the "special" forum where it continues to be commented on. Then we don't allow me to access that forum. Nice. And it was all due to some n00bs/Sock Puppets too. That's harsh man.....harsh.

Barry Bonds, a generally unlikeable athlete, was only convicted of the most minor charge against him. I think this is good news for Lance Armstrong. I don't really see a Federal prosecutor moving forward against a celebrity that is held in such high regard with much of the general population if they can only convict Barry Bonds of obstruction of justice.

One thing is undeniable -- if Lance is "outed", you've got nearly an entire decade of the TdF proven "illegitimate". The winners of nine of the last twelve TdFs proven and strong unproven hints about the other three.
But it IS curious that the DoJ, FDA, et al. are going so hard on Lance. It is a coordinated effort and those agencies don't coordinate much without direction from above. Lance is huge in Democratic Party politics and, by all indications, was a strong candidate to run for elected office. Why would a Democratic administration go after him? Would he have been running against a "favorite son" or daughter? Was he becoming too powerful to handle? Who knows? I honestly figured any administration -- Democrat or Republican -- would have given him a pass. I never imagined anyone would latch onto a Landis story and try to do something about it.

What Lance did is child's play in the world of politics. Ever heard of Teddy Kennedy?
