Aw man, impulse buying is the worst

I just bought this thing. I really tried not to hit buy it now but it didnt work.

Alan

I know most people prefer steel, but I wanted to try out something different. Plus I have a nice Campy SR group to put on it.

What do you guys think?

Not sure if I paid a little too much at $230 shipped, but it has never even been ridden.

Thoughts/comments?

Looks better then the impulse buy I was tempted with yesterday (Lotus Odyssey tourer). I'd say you're heading for some fun

Looks as if it isn't even at its fullest potential.

Beware of Holiday76 and his metal polish.

I'd say you did OK Just for grins, check out what that headset brings on *bay - you can probably re-coup 1/3 your investment right there. That bike is going to create all sorts of bling vortexes (vorti?)once it's built up with a SR grouppo.

Gentlemen - start your lasers!

I agree - looks like you're going to have some fun alright! I know what I'd do, and it wouldn't be cheap. I'm lucky it's hard to find top-end frames in my size. Otherwise, I'd be broke and living in a showroom...

Looks super nice imo, a fine purchase and should be a fun project.
I imagine it may be a lil flexy though going by the size being smaller diameter aluminum

I was almost tempted to buy one of those back in the '70s when you could get one for $90 brand new. But they had a reputation for being spongy, so I lost the desire.

The same seller has one in a more common size, NOS for $10 less due to lack of a headset... for all those who are feeling impulsive. I think this is the first Alan I have seen in my size.

You did well. I'm jealous.

I watched this bike for a week and almost pulled the trigger at the original listing
price of $190 + shipping. I was watching for a relisting at a reduced price. And
there you were, breaking line while I was literally out having lunch.

Oh well, the thrill is in the hunt. I'll just have to be temporarily satisfied with my Kleins.

Damn you, mister! ;-)

Yeah seriously. I'm going to try not to let it sit in my garage and then sell it to you in a few months though...

Yeah good point, here is it for anyone looking (pic clickable):

One of you locals should buy it so mine has a friend. Might just be your size if I remember correctly Machin Shin..

I came home from work and had 15 minutes to kill before taking my dog to the vet, browsed the 'bay for a second and there it was. It had just been listed 20 or so minutes before. Like i said the shinnyness of it was too much to handle...

They had that reputation, but those darned Columbians still managed to win a lot of mountain stages on them anyway...

If your name is Alan, I would categorize this purchase as a "no brainer."

it's not, but my LBS is called Alan's bikes. I'm sure he'll appreciate it, then give me a crazy look for bringing yet another bike into his shop

I think you did quite well. It's beautiful. They made a version in blue as well. You should post pics when it's built up.
