Upgraded to new trainerroad software and ever since I lose power connection 2 to 3 times per session

If connecting with ANT+ you need to move whatever it is closer. I have found that the range can vary depending what it is (generally less than 1m).

Assuming nothing else has really changed sounds like the updated TR software is causing issue with your particular HW setup. Contact them and see if they have anything to say.

As an aside, with TR's second price hike in less than a year, I decided to look at alternatives. Zwift doesn't do it for me, but I'm liking Sufferfest more than TR. Their 4DP power profile/scaling makes a lot of sense to me and it doesn't hurt that their monthly pricing is a third less than TR.
