"Innovate or die" ?
I never noticed this on my bike as the title says it's the decal that has a size on my specialized hard Rock mountain bike... I'm just wondering do they all say this?

I think that was around late 90s when Specialized would invent/make-up all sorts of crazy frames and let the industry determine what worked and failed horribly.

That was a slogan of theirs back in the 90's, so it was on tons of their products. A sales rep gave me a shirt that said it. I got out of cycling for a while and have no idea how long that slogan lasted.

That is not just a 90s slogan it is words they live by and have at least one big mural with it on the wall at HQ. Good or bad they have made a lot of interesting ideas some of which maybe aren't the best all the time but they tried it where others might not. They don't run that sticker on modern bikes but they do still support the ideal of it. If people didn't make innovations we might still be running fixed gears with wing nuts (nothing against fixed gears of course I love them and have two of them) or have some odd gears that are shifting from the seat stays.

It was a marketing slogan they capitalized during the 90's. The hidden meaning is change things up frequently to differentiate SBC product from the rest of the market. Has little to do with advancing engineering with workable and tested designs. No doubt SBC has influenced the bicycle industry with very marketable ideas and approaches to selling, and some of the engineering found in some of their products is well thought out. On the other hand they have flown some real junk into the market, using the consumer as the test dummy, all in the name of "innovate or die".
Remember the "I am Specialized" campaign? Selling the brand as a lifestyle to those that needed an identity. It was fairly effective.

if they lived by the slogan, and didn't always innovate, wouldn't they be dead by now?
