That's so it'll look like it's still being used when it becomes a clothes hanger.

wouldn't this be a warranty issue sometime down the road? I don't know anything about them except they are way overpriced.

Getting sent hundred gallon barrels of rust sealant and then only using less than 1 5 gallon bucket makes me think it wasn't a huge problem on a lot of bikes. I'd be pissed about spending that much money on a bike and getting something that wasn't cosmetically nice though. I want to be the one to give a bike its first scratch.

If I'm dropping over $2k on the damn thing the deal is big. I want it perfect.

100%.....If you got a new "steel is real" bike and it was rusting on day one that group of people would lose their ****.

Probably not, but it is in the house where people will see it. And, it is still impacted by sweat.

I'm not seeing details of how bad the problem is. Here is one customer.

Nothing bad, but a bunch of small annoyances. I'm not convinced his vinegar is the best for preventing rust.

It is interesting the company chose thin chromed chainring bolts rather than stainless. Likely they need better metal prep and rust proofing primer.

Haha, that takes away from the inspirational Instagram posts you can make. Don't want rust showing up in the background. I wonder how the Tacx and Stages bikes are holding up?

There's a part of me that says that, if I ever had the money, I'd get a smart bike because it's all integrated with fewer wear items to replace (no cassette, chain, etc). Another part of me says that a smart trainer with my current (or a new to me used) bike would be a be a better choice because if something does need replacing or gets rusty or whatever, I could replace just that one part. The logical part of me knows that I have a power meter and a dumb trainer and, until those break irreparably, I'm not going to convince my wife that I need to buy either when we have windows that need replacing, and other major appliances that are coming due for a replacement soon.

I'm still trying to figure out why people are paying over $2k for a hamster wheel.

When you could spend 3K on a Tacx smart bike with ‘real road feel’ instead so you don’t get sweat all over your $12K Pinerolo F12?

The rust is an integral part of the "limited beach edition" Peloton. You don't set it up on a mat, you set it up on sand (sold separately).

One thing to know is they are predicted to tank, soon, and another is that Amazon is considering purchase.

So, if you have Amazon Prime, and everyone acts really quickly, you might get it in within that 30 day return window.

I believe Apple is also interested. Maybe Microsoft too (I also heard Nike). The tech companies don't really care about the bike sales (the monthly subscriptions might be useful), but what they really want is the thousands more datapoints that they can add to their profiles about each of their customers and sell for targeted marketing.

The company apparently had a pretty severe COVID boom and bust. With everyone wanting one at the beginning of the COVID lockdown, and now people cancelling orders and subscriptions right and left.

Likely also impacting the decision to sell scratch and ding bikes (for full price).

Many of their current financial woes likely have more to do with how COVID impacted the home fitness market than anything the company has been doing.

The best time to buy your Peloton will be to cruise Craigslist ads over the next year or two.

And, thus, Peloton stocks are right back down to pre-COVID levels. This would be a good time for a buyout.

To keep afloat, the company really needs to determine how to market a new generation of fitness apps.

This is going to be true in the bike market soon. Fire sale on lots of covid bikes. But Craigslist is old skewl. Facebook Market is where people are selling these days.

Why do people spend $2k, $5k, $10k, $20k more on a toaster to drive around town? A car is an appliance. You're not Mario Andretti. See how that works?

Why do people like you care so much about what other people spend their money on? If someone wants a Corvette they'll never race or a $2000 indoor bike setup........who freaking cares? You don't get to define what brings others joy.
