Anybody Know Anything About Gilmour Frames?

This is an interesting US built frame a local guy has for sale...supposed to be a mix of 531 and Columbus tubing...felt pretty light (didn't weigh it). Supposedly some kind of team bike.

I think the guy still builds frames...

Anyone have first hand knowledge of the quality/ride???

I don't have first-hand but second-hand knowledge as I facilitated a friend getting one of Andy's frames 2nd hand...he's a master builder, you can't go wrong unless the example you are considering has been crashed or abused. He's based in Tucson, AZ.

So I picked this frame up today...

Some bozo apparently ran the bike fixed as the rear is currently set at 120.xmm!

Andy Gilmour has been quick in emailing me info as well.

Hopefully spreading the frame to ~128mm won't be an issue.

I'm gonna transfer the Centaur bits from the Titan over to this and hang up the Titan frameset.

How about an opinion on a headset for this frame...I don't want to buy anything expensive...I would rather use something I have here or something cheapish that is sitting on the shelf at the LBS. I have a VO mirror polish set or a Tange Levin in black sitting here, I could grab a chrome Tange Levin easily enough as well.

Thoughts?

OK...So I couldn't wait...seems I'm a bit impatient lately...I went by my workshop and me and a buddy re-set the rear frame. I set it to 129.xxmm. I had to align it in relation to the centerline as well...got that within .5mm and declared good enough (for now at least).

Still need to decide on a headset...

What took you so long to snag it? I figured you had missed out as we did not hear any more of it.

I was working out a Package deal with the De Rosa Professional as well.

Hopefully I can get some paint match info from Andy Gilmour as well, and then I'll clean her up and transfer the Centaur bits over. Not sure how she'll ride...but...she seems pretty light, and hopfully she rides better than the Thron tubed Titan which I find kinda "wooden". I like my bikes a little lively/with a little spring, I guess...

Bright silver or black headset??? Decisions..decisions...
