Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, I'm hitting the big 3-0 next month. Given the timing of my birthday (Xmas eve) and the "significance", I ordered something I've oogled over for a while, and finally said F-It.

November 38mm carbon clinchers. Completely stoked, I can't wait to put them on the Pinny and take 'em uphill for a spin. Ugh, its going to be a LONG winter...

Box of Stinger waffles, box of Stinger gels are coming in tomorrow.

Had my Giro Advantage 2 helmet and Attack/Force tire set come in last week (didn't think GP4000S' could be beat! Although they were a pain in the butt to mount; 10 minutes on one tire!). Bought CO2 and tubes too.

Heh. Just threw in a lowball bid on a fixed wheelset. $86. They're probably boat anchors, but it's just for a winter training bike.

Castelli Bibs

$40 Shipped. Not bad but the straps are a bit short for me... gives me a slight wedgie.

Haven't had a day where I could wear it and not have to cover it up with a jacket or a vest yet.

Primal has/had it on closeout for $29, pretty hard not to buy it at that price.

Despite the advice I got in this thread , I got me one o' these Louis Garneau Massimo 2 jackets. I hope to find out how good it is this weekend (that's like saying, "I hope it's cold!").

Selle Anatomica saddle. I and my butt have been wondering about them for a couple of years, and I decided it was time to bite the bullet. Comfortable right out of the box, BTW; so far so good.

Will be my new winter commuter to compliment my cannondale six13. Time to go component shopping.

Thinking I will go with SRAM Red gruppo, Avid BB7 road disc brakes, DT Swiss RR465 rims, Fizik Kurve saddle, Chris King ISO hubs and ceramic BB.
