Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Having all the data, and the competition factor motivates me, and makes cycling more interesting.

Well so much for the back order status on my 2012 Red FD. My LBS was able to locate one from Trek, so I went in to get these:

So now setting my Trek up for non-cyclist friends to try out is much easier. Yeah, this happened to arrive today. It puts the bike back over 13lbs, but it shifts faster, and more precise. I suspect most of the weight gain was in the chain catcher. It is much more robust, and a better design then the Far, and Near one I was using with my old school Red FD.

Just get the new shifters too, that'll get you back to under 13lbs

I'm thinking about different chainrings. Maybe trying out Praxis. That might be lighter than the Stronglight/Sram combo I have now.

Also if I was really worried about it. I could peel my wheel stickers for 16g.
