Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Order six GP 4 seasons from Wiggle - 4@25mm, 2@28mm. I'm going to switch my single back to 25mm so the current tires will become spare for the tandem.

Already been said, but it's bigger than that.

I had a Hi-mod Super Six, great bike..I like the G5 better, but I got a 56 vice a 54 that i needed so the G5 had to go. If I wasn't sponsored by BH, it would be a hard purchase…bikes are expensive ya'll.

With the weather getting cold, I decided to start collecting some warmer cycling gear. Picked these up from the LBS the other day. Only one ride on them, but I like them so far. Comfortable and warm.

Picked up a used garmin 305 off e-bay with Cadence/speed sensors and I also bought a HRM to go with it. So for about 150 I'll get everything I need. (Equivilent to the 500 bundle at over 300+ dollars)

Also grabbed an axiom ultra spark headlight. Between that and the spark3 that i have, I can see the road pretty damn well at night.

Well kinda. I finally broke down, and paid Garmin to repair mine. I just got the email today that a replacement is on it's way here. Now I need to buy one of those K-Edge mounts. My screen cracked while just riding along on the last one. The only thing that makes sense is it was crushed by my sternum, while resting my shoulders on the handlebars while descending. Anyway, I can't wait to stop using my iPhone as my computer, and go back to the Garmin.

You also might want to pick up the grease injection tool they make too. It makes the BB one less thing you ever have to worry about replacing. Just keep fresh grease in it, and keep turning the screws. My Trek is my bad weather bike, and I ride it in any condition with no worries now.

My rear Mavic Ksyrium wheel was busted beyond repair. I was going to spend money that I don't have on a new set of neuvations, but managed to find someone selling a rear ksyrium to match my front. It's an ES. It looks like it's got low miles, and it came with an ultegra cassette thats better than the one I had, and was only $150. Kinda blingy but I don't mind.

I just bought 2 long sleeve Pearl Izumi thermal jerseys from JensonUSA for $33 each. They seemed like a bargain.

In my 40+ years of serious cycling I've never owned a long sleeve jersey, nor a real cycling jacket. I've always made do with what I have, such as the Capilene base layers and a light Windstopper jacket cut for hiking that I use now. It works fine, but the jacket is way too floppy.

Just got my Wound-up fork back with a new clear coat. Cost me about $100. Does that count as a purchase?

(Note - the clear coat protects the CF from UV which is by I had it renewed after it bubbled. Was out of warranty.

My 305 came today along with the heart rate strap and cadence/speed units. I didn't bother with the cadence sensor as it was getting dark, but the first ride was great. I Love the backlight on the unit... It actually makes me want to ride at night. I enjoyed the dark this evening. I have heard the 500's are a little more delicate than the 305's.. Is the K edge a worthy investment or is it just for the 500 and 800?

You can change a setting for how long the light will stay on, which can include forever (until you press the light button again).
