Generally, no*. An English BB will be designed for a 68mm wide bottom bracket shell, while Italian BB shells are 70mm wide. Your English spindle would be a couple mm shy of proper length. You'd probably be better off just angling to swap your complete English BB for a similar Italian BB.

* There might be situations where you can get away with it. If your Italian BB shell has been aggressively faced it might be closer to 69mm wide, in which case you might get away with a simple cup swap.

Oh of course.. the spindle. Yeah I just need to find the correct ITA bb then.

Looking for Huret down-tube gear cable guide

I need the one with the cable-stop for the front mech, not the fancy Jubilee one.

Lookin' for a French-threaded Atom 77 compact 6-speed with a 30t large cog (or 32t, if such a thing exists...), or comparable French-threaded 6-speed/30t that would work with a 120mm or 126mm rear hub. Thx

Maillard made a six-speed normal (126) 14-32, the english sprockets all fit the french bodies.

There was such an english 14-32 at the local coop recently if that might help, I could go have a look to see if it's still there.

What oneclick said. Find a more easily found English thread FW, disassemble, reassemble on a French thread FW body.

I am green with envy every time I read references to a "local co-op"..... There ain't really even a half-decent LBS near me! Sounds like assembling what I want from and English & a French FW is the way to go. That'd be fantastic if the 14-32 is still at your co-op!

Do you have a french one to start with? If not, find one of those first...

Well, I've got a regular 5sp 13-26 Atom, but that's not gonna get me where I want to go...!

In a pinch, you can route a short section of housing under the BB from the cable stop (or bypass the stop completely), just terminate it as it heads up toward the FD. Friction and cable tension will keep it in place. I did that on my Gitane TdF and it worked perfectly.

That is simple, elegant and clever! I am impressed, Sir

I need one of these

It goes to a Modolo Sporting brake lever, but I suspect there may be clamps from other similar levers that would work.

I have some modolo levers and they MIGHT have the same style clamp. I'll have to look tomorrow, if you can wait a minute or three

Thanks! Though I'm impatient to get this bike built up, I actually need several key parts before it's rolling, so the left brake lever is not an urgent item. No rush.

The main thing I'm looking for is a set of derailleurs for an '83 Holdsworth Professional. So Campy Super Record is probably most appropriate, but also the most $$$ so I might go with 80s vintage Dura Ace or Superbe depending upon what I find that looks right and is a reasonably good deal.

Here is a link to the build sheet so you can see both what I've got and what I still need.

Shimano Down-tube Shifter

Looking for a banded Shimano DT shifter that’s friction-able.
Light action would match the rear derailleur, but not picky.
Thanks.

Shimano L-412. Micro-ratchet kinda thing. Clamp, bolt, & shifters are in like new condition.
Email if interested.
