Before I dump this...
Is it worth anything? Only reason I ask is it seems so unique. I've never seen stick shifters except on the 60's Stingrays.

Probably more was spent on the tires than what it is really worth. But everything is worth something to someone. Around here, someone would list this on facebook marketplace for $300 and get indignant if they were offered $30. Later they would wish they took the $30.

Honestly I do think they look unique. I just wouldn't take the bike off your hands even if it was a Takara.

Always liked the feel of those shifters. Very smooth. If you're anywhere near a (flattish) college campus, a young female student would likely be thrilled to buy that bike, especially given its condition.

At the co-op we could easily sell this to a hipster or college student for $100 assuming everything more or less works. Much harder if you are trying to sell on Craigslist nowadays.

Looks like an American Eagle, from before Nishiki. The serial number will help to place it relative to that distinction.
Not an Olympiad model. Custom Sport model did not exist until 1974. Possibly the Sports Special model.
Some people who know vintage bicycles like the idea of having an American Eagle.

Appears to be missing the cable sheave that mounted off the seatpost binder bolt. Won’t be much rear brake without.
