It was Saturday the 28th - but they were still there yesterday Feb 1.
It's been cold AF overnight, but by afternoon it's usually warm.

I think I spotted the first ones in Portola Valley, on Deer Creek Road on the 22nd of January. No pics, however. But I did snap a pic of some Jonquils in San Mateo on the 2nd of January! That seemed kinda early. And last Sunday, the Daffodils were starting in Woodside.

Gorgeous day today. The rest of the week, not so much. Evidently we have to prepare for snow.

Huhwhat? 🤨 I'll have to look at our forecast now. It's normally been in the low-40s F here at night, with daytime highs in the 50s or 60s, depending. I don't think snow is allowed down here, but I better double-check. 🤔

It's got to be a mistake.

There's no "% chance of snow" in the overlay

Uhhhhh A foot of snow in the East Bay Hills?!?!? Diablo is going to be a zoo on the weekend, but I guess I can get my fill of snow in the Berkeley Hills if this comes true.

NORTH BAY HILLS Warning is in effect from 4 pm Thursday
through 11 am Friday for elevations above 1000 ft with 4-8inches
of snow possible. For the EAST BAY HILLS and SANTA CRUZ
MOUNTAINS, the Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 pm
Thursday to 1 pm Friday for elevations above 1500 ft with 3 to 7
inches in Santa Cruz mtns and 6 to 12 inches for the East Bay
Hills.
For the MONTEREY AND SAN BENITO MOUNTAINS, the Warning
is in effect from 7 pm Thursday to 1 pm Friday for elevations
above 2000 ft with a couple inches of accumulation, but 6 to 12
inches of snow above 3000 ft elevation.

Just a spot of rain last night, but it's supposed to whomp us pretty good overnight, starting around 6:00.

The wind has been pretty rude though, the last few days. It makes it feel way colder than it really is. 🥶

I had to drive to Sacramento yesterday and I was getting blown around like a plastic bag - then I discovered... drafting big rigs. Helped a lot.

We had snow! Last night into this morning; maybe an inch, but it stuck; this rarely happens here at 14' altitude. It's not quite cold enough to do it properly, so it's all melted and raining; 40* outside the back door. I'm spending the day on the couch, crocheting and internetting.

Interesting day today; band after band of rain and/or hail and wind, every few minutes. A good day to crochet on the couch with a cup of tea at hand; I don't think it got above 45*.

Looks like tomorrow is more of the same:

Tuesday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce small hail. High near 46. South southwest wind 11 to 14 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Walnut Creek had some of the heaviest rain I've seen in years... lasted about an hour and then turned to drizzle around noon.

Last night got real interesting; a bit of thunder and lightning (rare up here) followed by a very loud hailstorm; it didn't seem to be a lot of hail, but it was coming down very hard.

Yep. We saw a BIG flash, but when I counted off the delay in the thunder, it was about 8 miles away. Our little dog was slightly freaked, but the Greyhound slept through it without a care.

Yeah, Humboldt Bay is backed by some steep hills, so thunder rolls for a very long time. The cat wasn't happy, but she's had cabin fever for awhile; she likes to go in the back yard, catch some rays, and watch the scenery. Not as much fun when it's 43* and raining buckets.

Looks like this Pineapple Express washed most of the snow off Diablo...so do I get the mountain back from all the tourist drivers? I haven't been up there in a long time, can't deal with all the terrible driving that goes on up there. It's bad enough on a normal weekend, I just couldn't do Diablo Snowmaggedon.
