To save people a click: The rear swingarm is now curved. The Front fork has a diamond cross section instead of rectangular.

Also :
Smaller folded size This BIRDY 3rd generation folds 15% smaller than before! The new chain tensioner now comes standard and ensures perfect chain position when the bike is folded.

Optimized geometry Optimized head tube angle and lower BB height provides increased stability & responsive feedback similar to a road racing bike.

When did Pacific Cycles last upgrade the Birdy design?

Is there a way to tell if a Birdy bike is the newest design, with the specs listed in that article, so as to avoid ordering the previous design?

Wikipedia says the mk3 was July 2015 but you could check the main Birdy thread for confirmation around that time.

As far as I know, nobody in the US has stock so you shouldn't have an issue. I, for example, got mine through bfold and last time I was in David said he could order one via airmail but wasn't stocking them. For confirmation of a mk4 (I guess it's mk4?) from pictures on the web, look at the rear swingarm (between the rear wheel and the elastomer in the side view), the new one is slightly curved while older ones are straight.

This isn't correct.

The P40 is a limited edition model which is probably sold out now.

The latest normal model is the Birdy III.

Pacific Cycles showed new models at Taipei bike show: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=kRzqxQSbGW3

Even if it is a limited edition it is still a birdy model am i correct.
Hence it would be the latest model just one that you cant get that easily from your side of the world.
Beside it not really sold out if you do a bit of searching you can find a P40 for sale.

Yes, there are resellers who still have the P40 in stock (some even sell it on eBay).

But its not a regular Birdy model, like the titanium Birdy, it will become unavailable soon.

And it has never been available in Europe and US (unless Pacific Cycles accepts to ship it to Europe or US).

Hello, I would be grateful of feedback on the following: I have a mk3 Birdy using the Nexus 8 gear hub. However, even on first gear, it is difficult to climb steep hills. I read some threads that it is possible to replace the front chain ring. Could anyone make a recommendation on the replacement chain ring? Thank you for your help
