SF Peninsula C&V ride. Rescheduled to 8/28

For those of you who either wanted to do the C&V ride that we had to call off due to the poor AQI or that couldn't make it for other reasons, we have rescheduled it for this upcoming Saturday (8/28).

Same Start: The Corner of Edgewood and Canada north of Woodside, about 1/2 mile off of 280 for easy access.

Same time: 10:00AM start

Same Route: See attached .pdf for the Cue sheet and some pictures. ~30 mile, mostly flat (some rollers), all paved.

Hopefully the air quality lasts and we can roll this weekend.

Mike

According to "AirNow" it looks like there a good chance we will have acceptable air quality get together for a ride on Saturday.

Thanks for rescheduling!

I hope and plan to be able to join this Saturday.

Thanks for the cue sheet! It helps me feel as if there aren't any climbs where folks will be waiting 20 minutes for me.

I'll check the thread that morning for late breaking news.

If any of those little climbs take you 20 minutes, it's because you stopped for a snack or a wizz.

It is kind of odd that the first, and so far ONLY bad air day on the Peninsula coincided with our planned ride, and the air cleared again that afternoon.

Yeah, but until the cue sheet I didn't know whether they'd be taking us up King's or OLH for fun. My typical time up those is best described as "Same day I started!"

Man, that'd cruel - "Okay gang! Let's take those 52/42 cranksets and 13-19 cassettes up Kings! And then let's take those dodgy brakes down Tunitas Creek!"

Great climb, great downhill, but running a corncob up Kings Mtn, and less than really good brakes going down Tunitas is suicide!

Not to worry. We're parking at Canada and Edgewood, in unincorporated San Mateo County.

I did ride my Bob Jackson with original Campy Brakes (and pads) down West Alpine last week... I definitely take it really slow, you can't let it get away from you.

I will admit, I was not riding a double with a corn-cob set up when I climbed Page Mill and back out 84/West OLH.

I used to do OLH, Kings, even Page Mill with a 53/39 x 12-25. I can't even imagine that now.

I think those climbs got steeper in the last 30 years, that's the only explanation that makes sense.

It's looking pretty bad out there.

Since we stated we will check the numbers at 8:00, this is just a heads up that it will most likely be cancelled.

Good call.

I did a shorter, earlier (cooler) and further north (better AQI) loop, since I was basically ready anyway.

I could feel it in the nose and throat afterwards.

I was planning on coming over just to check out the folks and bikes plus get some miles in on Canada.

AQ on the mid Peninsula was 154 this afternoon!

We are trying again to hold this ride this up coming Saturday. I'll create a new thread also, but wanted to let anybody on the thread that was thinking about joining, that we will try again this upcoming Sat the 4th same time, place, and course.

Hopefully the better air holds this time.
