Cars in the size of the Twingo are very popular overhere. Now even more because of the raising gas prizes and the support the government gives to this kind of cars. Personally I have never had a small car. My 1st car was a Saab 900 and would not really qualify as small overhere. I once got an Alfa Romeo Mito from the dealer, when my car went for a service. Of course I did take a look in the back and concluded it would not be for me with my bike collecting habbit. For most people they are great practical cars however. Does everything what they need and more. Small cars are not always positioned and percieved as low end. There are luxurious and premium small cars too. It could be that this is bit different from the US situation, where maybe only the Mini qualifies for that segment and is popular to some extent.

I once saw someone driving a LeCar with a personalized licensce plate that said: "LE PLATE". Had to chuckle at that one.

Heh DD,
This is what our boys are dreaming about as they wipe thirty years of cobwebs and worse out of the 1972 BMW 2002 we are rebuilding.
Our actual car is down to the panels at the moment.
I just sourced a rebuilt 4 speed last fall.
The body itself, including shock towers, and the trunk, is surprisingly rust free.
The car had been sitting in a pole barn on blocks for the last 11 years.
Just the right color though, Verona Red!
Here's a great link to whet your appetite:
https://www.bmw2002faq.com/
......and here's a pic of our oldest with his cousin's new toy in Bavaria!
edit: Lot's of patience is required finding parts. It's not impossible to source the parts, but it is "more challenging" to find them at a reasonable rate.
Sounds like vintage bikes doesn't it.

Thanks for the link - and I think I saw that one while doing some research last night. I further recall hearing of a place in Cali (?) called 2002 AD from back in the day before it somehow burned to the ground. It's my understanding that place was a paradise for the baby Bimmer brigade.
I've always loved these little jewels. Wouldn't my 74 Molteni Super look sweet on the roof rack of a Verona Red 2002tii? I like to think so!
I won't even notice the power gap as I'm slowing down in the cars as I get older and wiser.

The LeCars sold in the US during the 70s had a large "Le Car" decal on the doors. My neighbor's LeCar got graffitied by someone who changed it to "Le Garbage".

Home owners assoc. keeps me from fixing and re-selling cars, so bikes became my passion. I currently drive 1991 Caprice Classic 55,4xx original miles.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I like the classics... picked up our '91 Jeep last spring and will be doing some minor restoration to the bodywork. "Woody" is still as solid mechanically as the day he rolled off the line and that 4 litre I6 just purrs until you poke it, and then it growls and feels like it is tearing up chunks of pavement.
Our Nissan Sentra is still running beautifully with nearly 300,000 km on the ticker now... over the past 4 years it has taken me back and forth to Portland countless times and made a trip to Michigan last summer.

I am car free and do all the running around on my Moto SS/CX. In the past I enjoyed my 67, 68 and 95 Mustangs. Later yrs got into a cafe'd 74 Honda CB 550 and a reg CB 250.
Simple times now with a simple area to get around in.
