FS: 1952 Claud Butler Olympic Sprint
Hello folks,
This bicycle is SOLD! Cheers!
Please refer to this thread for some details about the bike in question:
A 1952 Claud Butler Olympic Sprint on the Road! - Bike Forums
Since taking those initial photos I have touched up the scratches on the fork blades with some silver paint that doesn't quite match but from 5' looks much better than the green that was showing through.
Please note that the minor wobble on the drive side mentioned in the initial thread is almost certainly due to a slight bend in the bottom bracket axle. I have replaced the pedals on the bike with ones that I know are straight and the wobble persisted.
The frame is 24" center-to-top with a 22.75" top tube center-to-center and has an oversized top tube for increased rigidity and all of the "lugs" are actually of bilaminate construction. It's got a Presto stem in need of chrome, beautifully chromed Baileybend handlebars, rare Chater Lea 7" crank arms with 48 tooth inch pitch chainring, 7 tooth Chater Lea rear cog (and another old cog that I didn't quite pry off on the other side), alloy Fiamme sprint rims and B.H. Airlite Hubs, Kenda SC tubular tires, an unmarked alloy seatpost, Brooks Swallow saddle, Brampton B8 pedals, Catos toe clips, a rare Bluemels spearpoint fender that I purchased NOS, a period-correct British bell (sorry, forgot the brand) and steel axle retainers. All of the components shown in these photos (listed above) are included in the sale price EXCEPT for the GB brake caliper and lever, Brooks Swallow saddle, saddle clamp, pedals with clips, and the frame pump.
Unpictured but included is a rare Chater Lea lamp mount for the non-drive side fork blade (which has the appropriate braze-on) and an extra new Kenda SC tubular tire. I am also including a FULL SET of reproduction decals in the event that someone wants to completely repaint the bike, as I was planning on doing.
