Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"I think I got a good deal" - My foray into superbike territory

First of all: a picture to satiate BF:

Go to page two, already! Look at the date of the post.

(Click for bigger)

2008 Cervelo Soloist! Ultegra! Easton Circuit wheels. Came with Look Keo Carbon pedals but I don't have look cleats. Shame since they're so pretty.

For $500, it will probably be the best deal on a bike I ever find. It's immaculate too, can't find a scratch on it. Not even dirt, until after the 50k I did on it last night hah. Hell, it even had new tires on it.

Thanks, and yes indeed is. Coming from a 54/40 and 52/42, compact is amazing.

And smallguy, I'm thinking of leaving the SPDs for my mountain bike and going for some real road shoes. Would be cool.

Wow! Nice find. Get some cleats, without question (I have the Look and can't imagine biking without them).

Bet you can't stop smiling when you look at her? Go ahead try it. Here, let me look at mine... nope, I'm smilin'.

Dude seemed to have other bikes and was well off, said he didn't race anymore. Told me about how he maintained it after every ride. Wasn't sketchy at all. Probably not.

I also have his home address and home phone number, so if it's stolen, he's screwed.

Well done. I was stoked to find a Soloist Team frameset for $600. $500 for a complete bike is an absolute steal.

I'm one of about two people who check the local CL fervently, so yeah. I called within minutes of him posting. It's a 54.

Yeah I'm not flipping it
But if I did, the frame is nearly a grand right?

the funny thing is you'd actually be the one screwed for buying stolen goods. i heard a story once about someone finding out the bike they bought was stolen and turning it into the police and he got fined for it.

enough raining on your parade, that thing is amazing for $500!

Sweet deal - enjoy. I would definitely say go get some road shoes / look cleats. You'll probably want the gray ones.

That's a ridiculously good deal, I would have snatched it up in an instant. The Soloist I almost got 2 years ago was the gray anodized model. Congrats and enjoy!
