DeRosa is going with a good quantity of Bottom Bracket drop. unclear what tire size they are using,they are fuzzy as they measure height, you have to interpolate, 75-80mm of drop I think.
they give a seat tube angle, no head tube angle, do give a front center but without fork rake, imprecise.

I should have stepped up a couple/few years ago when the geo was still more normal/oldschool.

Like the looks of the DeRosa frame set the best. don't care for the over-powering look of black for the drive train. Detracts from the gorgeous color of the frame.
The Portofino looks like a natural progression from old school standard tubes to oversize without looking injured from swelling!
The Formigli is interesting with the CS under the lug. I really like seeing all lugs the same finish. Chrome would have looked great too. Surprised not to see internal routing of the brake cable. Fork crown is interesting design too.

RobbieTunes- Giovanni Battaglin always liked to use white bar tape, if I remember correctly, so you nailed that! The national colors are really pretty on your Battaglin, too! Does the frameset have the Gipiemme dropouts? I always thought it would be cool to equip a Battaglin with a Gipiemme gruppo if it was one with the same in dropouts.

I had one of these(SLX frame) in the '80's with Dura Ace 7sp. My frame was painted in the red, white, and blue scheme. It was a wonderful bike. I am referring to the green, white, and red Battaglin.

I would love to see what those head tube lugs on the Portofino weigh. There is a reason why lugs for 44mm head tubes arent used...or rather, there are reasons, and this is one.

I just spoke with Alex Battaglin this morning on the phone. I have ordered a Marosticana but have yet to provide the details for the build. He said that they will send me a list of measurements to be taken and questions to be answered to determine how the frame will be built. It will be a completely custom build, for me and me alone! I will post again when the next step occurs. It seems that the process will include much input from my end as well as much feedback from theirs, including video of the build process! They said that with the holidays it should be a 7 week turn-around to finish the frame. This should be fun!

I can't help but wonder though if these beautiful bikes will be met with the same disdain as some people have for bikes like the Bianchi L'Eroica? Such a shame that there are those who take a negative view of these modern efforts to honor the traditions of the past. But, I for one wish to support builders like Alex Battaglin and Bianchi who are trying to keep the torch lit!

These snobs don't know whats good for them or us, if they had their way all the keepers of the flame would throw in the towel and give up.
Fortunately for us that doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon, hopefully never, there's a lot more frames to be built.

I have been playing very well with all of these old school bike frames for the last forty years and I can't think of any other build that surpasses the steel construction of a vintage bike. I just finished one with a 2cm clearance on the rear wheel, and how well it performs, Tight and responsive to the rider. JMHO but the steel frames are the best! smiles, MH
