Another Garmin 530 Concern
See below thread, I was able to download maps for my 530 and that worked.
But one major reason I bought the 530 was to interface with my Varia (510) radar. The alert tone is way too quiet. Advice??

Mount it on top of the stem rather than out front.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have the unit mounted on the stem. I don't think the 3d printed amplifier will work with that, but I suppose it's an option.
I know some suggest using the BT app for the Varia on their phone for the alarm, but the Varia I have is the 510 which is NOT BT enabled.
I suppose I will have to accept this, but if there are other suggestions I am open to them.

I have mine paired to a Garmin watch. It vibrates on my wrist when the Varia wants to tell me about a car. It's hard to miss.

I have the 530 paired to the original radar. It seems plenty loud. I did notice there are different sound settings, but I don't recall seeing volume control. Mine makes multiple beeps rather than a single tone. I think that was the default, and it works for me. It might be worth fiddling around with the notification settings.

I assume the visual alert still goes to the Edge display? I'm thinking about getting a Varia, but can't hear the Edge tones at all even with my hearing aids in. But I do use my Garmin watch as a heart rate sensor so the vibration alert would be a good solution for me.

The watch can only take part if (1) it's paired to the radar I don't know if all their watches can do that or not and (1) it's also in ride mode. If the watch doesn't know you're riding it won't listen for the radar.

That makes sense. I guess I need to experiment to see if I can broadcast the HR from the Forerunner at the same time as logging a ride with it.

I have the 735XT which I'm already broadcasting HR to my Edge with. I just didn't know if it would track a ride and broadcast at the same time. It may be all moot because my Bontrager Flare taillight I thought was dead isn't really dead and so I don't really need a new rear light. Nevertheless, the vibration to a wrist worn device seems like a good solution to the low volume of the 530.
