FS: Impeccable 1983 Univega Competizone F+F 63 cm
SOLD!
125, plus actual shipping. CONUS only. PayPal F+F preferred. Can do Venmo or Zelle. (Or cash if you pick up in Sacramento.)
OK, all you tall boys, I’ve got a gorgeous frame for you. The Competizone was made out of the same Champion tubes as their top end Superstrada. Really nice finish work with the thinning of the lugs and diamond cutouts on the head tube and seat tube lugs.
SN of L819014 puts it as a 1983 build which is consistent with the single set of bottle bosses on the down tube.
Very lightly used and never abused. Paint and decals are in great shape for a 1983. Nice metallic gunmetal which looks even better in person than the pictures. All threads are in excellent condition.
No dents and the frame is straight. Appears to have been lightly ridden and then stored indoors. Some light chips but overall, very presentable. Comes with the proprietary Suntour Symmetric down tube shifters.
Takes a 26.8 mm seatpost. 1 inch, threaded head tube, English threading. English bottom bracket standard, too. 126 OLD so set up for 6 speed rear freewheel. This would be a great bike build with a Suntour Cyclone or Superbe group.

Sweet frame! I had one in 59 cm. Pure race. Totally behaved. No bad habits. Had the thought many times riding it that you could have handed that bike to Andy Hampsten on his famous 1988 ride up Gavia Pass to win the Giro d'Italia and while the heavier frame than his custom would have cost him a few seconds, it would have supported him in the blizzard, on that crazy descent and on to the Giro victory.
Too big for me. I no longer have mine but it inspired and lent its geometry to my first ti custom.

Red-label Tange Champion should be #2, which is basically the same wall thicknesses as Columbus SL.
That's a really nice frameset right there.

Competizione is actual name of frame
Spell check changed “Competizione” to “Competizone” in title.
