Holdsworth score!
I finally got around to the coop this weekend and it was good thing. Pulled 2 beauties out of scrap/strip pile. A mid 70's raleigh competition in a purple/lilac color that's not my size, probably around a 54cm-56cm.. haven't measured it yet.
but the real find was a light blueish /teal colored holdsworth that is in my size. I'm trying to figure out a year and model. It's in rough shape and will probably need a paint job, it was turned into a single speed and some knuckle head pealed all of the decals. So i'm hoping i can figure out what the correct decals are so i can make it look as original as possible.
It came with a campy crank that was hammered, the 47t ring was cracked and the dust cap cover was stripped out which made removing bottom bracket a trick.
any info would be appreciated.

Cool score - awesome color. Take some detail pics as soon as you can; I already see some stuff I'd like to view close-up.
I don't know crap about Holdsworths, but the pros will be around momentarily. I just like seeing a cool old frame fall into the right hands

I am not an expert either, but the riveted head badge and those seat stay caps are very good signs. I agree the color is excellent; make sure you get good pics or better yet take it to an auto paint place for a match.
I have owned one Holdsworth, a Mistral, later than yours. It rode great. Nice score.

Headset looks to be T.D.C. Italia, part of their Continental Series.
Brake hangers for Universal center pull. Brake centers likely 55.5mm and 64mm.
Likely early to mid sixties era as it is set for a covered cable front mech.
Lugset is Prugnat longpoint seen on Mistral and numerous other Holdsworthy models.

Nice scores...and very nice color combos, check the top-tube for damage.
Wish I had a shop near me with stuff like that in the heap.

Search recent Holdsworth threads, one of the newer, shorter threads has a serial number chart for Holdsworth.

yeah, happens quite a bit actually. I think i'm the only one that ever looks through them to see if there is anything valuable, hate to think what might have been scrapped when i'm not around.

Gosh. Is there anyone working there you could slip your number, and a tenner to..., to give you a call before they dump a likely candidate?

that would work if they knew what to look for. The Holdsworth didn't have any decals only the headbadge and nobody there knows who Holdsworth is anyway. They call me quite a bit to help identify bikes.

Fabulous saves. Love the color, and I can't say I've seen that on a Holdsworth. Great legwork too. I assume the crank was without date codes?

GT,
Congrats on two great finds/saves. I have a 1964 Holdsworth Typhoon which is currently set up as a retro style single speed path racer. Nice riding bike. Yours is probably mid-level plus since their entry level bikes had stamped dropouts. Also, most of the early 60s bikes had grease fittings on the BB and possibly the headset as well as lamp mounts on the right fork blade. There is an extensive data based of Holdsworth serial numbers as they relate to mfg. dates. Just remember, Holdsworth reverted back to a four digit code in the 62-64 time frame.
My first quality bike was one of those two tone purple/lilac/lavender Competitions. Although it was a tad too big for me, I put a ton of miles on it until I saved enough money to get a correct size frame - The components lived on for many years. By-the-way, if your competition frame is 54-56 size and you decide to move it, I would definitely be interested.
Cheers and good luck with the bikes.
Van

Fab colour! I'm no expert but I've looked at a lot of Holdsworths and my first thought was Italia. Mid to upper model, wrap over seat stays, and cable guides for the brake. +1 on the serial number check! Enjoy, of my C&V steeds, my Special is the one I like to ride for pure pleasure, if not speed

...yes. Hard to tell from a photo, but it might be a wee bit turned down at the head tube lug.
If it is, it's not all that difficult when the frame is stripped down (which you need to do anyway), to insert some scrap headset races in the head tube, and set up a bench vise with a steel pipe in it to slip that over, put in a scrap hub or axle (hub works better...less chance it will bend) in the rear, and use a long (5 or 6 feet) two by four as a lever to bend it back so it's properly aligned.
But it might just be photo perspective distortion.
