Injury recovery. How's your recovery coming along?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My first outdoor ride back I almost got hooked like that. My heart rate goes up noticeably every time a driver is stupid in my vicinity now.

I really struggle with putting myself in the line of fire for a left turn, but I know it is something I need to get over.

You just never know when the car behind you is operated by an idiot with your name on it.

I've had a couple of collisions like that, but never a serious one. Most people are pretty aware and actually wait. I always politely wave or give them a them a thumbs up of acknowledgement.

I usually can do a front wheely and avoid, unfortunately they weren't that far ahead of me and we met.

Broken clavicle and sprained A/C joint crashing on gravel June 18th followed by one month of nothing (bone ends grinding hurt) and another month inside at my 7 hour/week trainer patience limit.

I'm still not getting within 10% of the power I was making, just got back to 200 mile weeks, and need a rest week in three not one of four.

I'm back to the same weight, but have a bit more fat and a bit less muscle.

Some good alternatives to ibuprofen if you have inflammation/chronic pain like I do:

Hops extract called Perluxan, which is a natural COX inhibitor, but COX 1, not COX 2 like ibuprofen, so it doesn't kill your stomach and liver.

Apres Flex, which is a 5 LOX inhibitor. It's basically Indian boswellia extract.

AC separation ie clavicle detachment. not bad enough to need surgery but bad enough to prevent cross season entirely (could not pick up 5 pounds, let alone a bike).

that was labor day. still hurts, still can't do pushups and pullups

back to road biking but less hours and stem flipped up
