Making Trek Decals
I am interested in making some vintage Trek decals. However, I only have pictures and not the actual measurement to do this. Can anyone please tell me the proper height / width of these individual letters on their Trek? Thank you.

This may or may not apply to Trek, but when getting vintage decals for my 80's Schwinn I'm restoring the decal was sized/scaled depending upon the frame size. So a small frame would have a smaller decal than the same large version of the same frame.
No idea if Trek did this or not.

I'd say the individual letters are about 1 13/16" x 7/8" with an overall height of 8". 1978 TX700 in Trek's "22.5" frame which translates to a 56cm c to c.

The best decals (waterslide only) in the US are from Gus Salmon. If you have a pic and measurements he will custom make anything. He may already have what you want on file. Great work, high quality, pretty quick, reasonably priced.

I’ve made my own decals for several bikes now and it’s a big part of the fun of resto-mods for me. A couple of tips I have (that you may already know): Be sure to use a printer that uses pigment ink rather than dye-based ink. The dye-base inks fade fast in sunlight. I like to print them on clear water-slide stock if they are dark colored decals going on light colored bikes but, since I can’t print white, I’m left with printing on white vinyl if they are going on a dark colored bike. I take pictures of the original decals that are as straight on as possible and with rulers in the frame that I use as reference for the recreations.

Cool! Santa brought me a Cricut, too! Just to clarify, Cricut is a precision cutter rather than a printer. You still have to print the images with a printer and then you cut them out with the Cricut in a process managed within the Cricut software. I use Inkscape, which is freeware, to create the print masters. I have heard but haven’t verified that it works similarly to CorelDraw. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk about it more. I’d enjoy seeing what you want to do and I’d be happy to help if I can.
