New Pads, Same Type: Rotor Resurface Necessary?
Hi everyone,
⬆️ As stated, do I need to grind a disk clean every time I swap in fresh (as in brand new) pads of the same type (e.g. organic/resin) from a different brand? Or do I just drop the new pads in and pedal away?

Drop the pads in and go. Wouldn't hurt to clean the rotors with some isopropyl alcohol but I wouldn't do more than that.

Pedal Away. Just be aware the pads won't have full surface contact until they wear in - you might have slightly less braking power. You can try to bed them in - some manufacturers recommend that and provide instructions. Usually involves doing a series of full braking stops from high speed without locking a wheel.

Agree with what nathand had to say. Give the rotors a clean with some rubbing alcohol. Drop in the new pads. You're golden.
