A friend asked me to refurbish his brother's old Peugeot as it has been sitting derelict for years in his garage. The bike will be presented to him as a gift whenever I get it completed. We are not sure if the bike was purchased here or in Europe where the owner toured on it while he was there. It appears to have had the mudguards and rack since new, perhaps some sort of tourist's model. The brakes appear newer than the date on the hubs and components, 1977. My friend Doug says it will likely end up in his brothers living room.

My 1973 Motobecane Grand Record. I've had it since 74. Unused for several years and in rough shape after being stolen (and recovered!) and abused a few years back. This summer project turned it into a 1 x 10 with gravel friendly tires. New powdercoat, decals, etc. I masked and sprayed the lugs. Original frame, fork, Stronglight headset & BB & crank (I cut off the large ring). Original seat stem, steerer & bars, Mafac brakes. New wheelset, tubeless tires, rear DR, SRAM shifter. I love the ride, supple, fast enough, climbs, carries city ruts and bumps and gravel trails. These pics before I fine-tuned the setup. I've got about 150 miles on it the last few weeks, super.

Mystery French gravel conversion
The frame has had a quality repaint so there's no evidence of make or model. All French threading and Simplex forged dropouts. The serial is stamped under the bottom bracket but there are numbers on the dropouts as well. Either 26.4 or 26.6 seatpost. The frame weighs about 1,900 grams. Metric tubing. As pictured with 700x35 and 700x40 on front, the angles measure 71.5 ht and 73.5 seat tube. Probably originally built for 27s.

This simplex dropouts and tube joins indicate peugeot, though the fork might be a replacement, look under the bottom bracket to see if there is serial number, depending on how thick the paint is, you may have to remove some with solvent.

Tough call. I've had the PX-10, but Moto's were rare in my area. Yours is very nice.

Just picked up this Motobecane Le Champion. Been sitting for a while, so will give a full overhaul. Has mismatched wheelset, so will replace with a nice tubular set. I'm pretty excited about it.

Motobecanes from this era are some very classy rides. I've been lusting after a Grand Jubile in that paint scheme for years now, but haven't found one for sale when I could afford it.
However, the first of my winter projects this year is a gold/brown Grand Touring 650b conversion that is getting all black hardware. I'm anxious to get started, but there are still opportunities to ride on the weekends. I'll share some photos when I get started...

Just picked this up a few weeks ago a 1985 PH501 Looking almost all original down to the chain. complete with Heliomatic Dork disc!
